Alphonso Davies’ header into the Croatian goal in 68 seconds into the first half gave Canada the lead, shocking their opponents Croatia with one of the fastest goals of FIFA 2022. The 2018 runners-up defeated the Canadians 4-1 in Match 28 of the ongoing FIFA World Cup 2022 at the Khalifa International Stadium, nevertheless, as they maintained composure and survived the early catastrophe.

Canada rolls the ball to start the game and assumes control. The globe and the Croatians are suddenly hit by a bolt out of the blue just one minute into the half. Borjan flicks the ball wide and to the right just 68 seconds in, Buchanan calmly pings it into the area, and Davies jumps high to turn it in. Canada leads Croatia 1-0 after what seems to be one of the fastest goals in world cup history.

After the Canadians had given Croatia an early lead, the score was tied at 1-1 when Kramaric finished skillfully after being set up by Perisic and putting the ball past Dominik Livakovic at the goal. Croatia increased their lead as the first half came to a close with a superbly executed goal by Livaja, who had plenty of room at the edge of the box and hammered the ball into the bottom left corner. The Canadians performed weak defense, which gave the Croatians an opportunity to profit.

The second half is about to start. The Croatians go into full assault gear in the opening minutes when Captain Modric sprints in from the right in the 53rd minute and passes the ball into the box to Kramaric, who takes the shot but the keeper saves it. David Osorio attempts a shot from the edge of the Croatian box 56 minutes into the game, but goalkeeper Likavokic deflects it over the crossbar. With Kramaric scoring his second goal of the game, Croatia increased their advantage to 3-1 after 70 minutes. Perisic crosses the ball beautifully across the field, finding Kramaric who turns, takes it past the Canadian defense, and scores. Canada goes into the backfoot now.

After numerous back-and-forth passes within the Canadian box, Croatia nearly scored their fourth goal in the 80th minute, but the final attempt was directly into the Canadian goalkeeper. As the game neared its conclusion and Croatia had already secured a convincing victory, Zlatko Dalic substituted all of his best players at once. Perisic, Kovacic, and team captain Luca Modric are replaced by Orsic, Palisic, and Majer. The large boys can now unwind after a job well done!

The second half was extended by 7 minutes as Croatia comfortably led Canada 3-1 and had no prospect of falling behind or drawing. But Kenny Miller, the lone Canadian on the field, dramatically gives the ball away after making a major slip. As a result, Mislav Orsic seizes control of the ball and sprints off with Lovro Majer supporting him from the side. As Orsic crosses the ball to Majer, who conveniently sends it past the goaltender to score the game’s fourth and final goal, the only player left to beat is the Canadian goalkeeper.

Croatia did exceptionally well to absorb an early blow before revving into gear at the World Cup with two goals from Andrej Kramaric securing a 4-1 victory over Canada.
