Korea kicked off the 30th game of FIFA 2022 by kicking the ball. Five corners are awarded to Korea in the first 15 minutes of the game, with one of them being delivered from the right at the far post into a true area of danger. Jordan Ayew made a fantastic delivery from a free kick on the touchline 24 minutes into the first half, and Mohammed Salisu’s header past the Korean goalie gave Ghana their first goal of the game. The goal was eventually awarded after a VAR check for handball.

Jordan Ayew makes a spectacular assist 34 minutes in when he crosses the ball from the left for Mohammed Kudus to head it in. Ghana increases its lead against Korea by double. Ghana ends the first half with a 2-0 advantage after goals from Salisu and Kudus at the 24 and 34-minute marks, respectively.

In the 57th minute of the second half, South Korea scores their first goal of the game. Lee Kang-in throws in a beautiful cross from the right, and Cho Gue-sung heads it into the net too quickly for the Ghanaian goalie. A Kim Jun-su cross from the byline into the Ghanaian box finds Cho Geu-Sung in the right place to rise up and head it in past the goalkeeper just three minutes later at the 60-minute mark to tie the game.

In the 64th minute, Hwang In-beom suffers a serious injury, and blood is pouring from his forehead. While the other players take a moment to collect their breath, he receives medical attention and is removed off the field by medical personnel. After 68 minutes, Ghana scored its first goal to defeat the tenacious Korean squad 3-2. To score his second goal of the game, Kudus receives a pass from the left, spins, and smashes it cleanly into the Korean goal. 75 minutes in, Lee shoots a free kick that goes fizzing and bending to the right, and goalkeeper Zigi makes a brilliant save.

In the extra 10 minutes, the Korean team tries desperately to tie the score by shooting at the Ghanaian goal each time. After keeping the ball with him on the left and right along the touchline for the first five minutes, Son throws a cross to Cho who was waiting near the edge of the Ghana box. Cho has plenty of room to try and send the ball into the goal’s roof, but Ati Zigi leaps and bats it away as he attempts to complete his hat trick. In the seventh minute, a cross from the byline curls into the Ghanaian box. Cho tries to leap to head the ball into the goal, but Lawrence Ati-Zigi reacts quickly and palms it away.

Just before the referee blows the final whistle, Kyungwon Kwon shoots at the Ghanaian goal from close to the midfield, but the ball misses the byline and hits a Ghanaian player instead. The referee refuses to grant the corner that the Koreans were hoping would change the outcome of the match. They protest by encircling the referee, and their manager Paulo Bento follows suit by approaching the official. After engaging in a heated debate, Anthony Taylor is given a red card by the referee. A dramatic end to a rather thrilling encounter goes Ghana’s way as they seemingly qualify for the knockouts with this win.

In the second half, South Korea scored twice in three minutes to tie the score before Ghana retook the lead after holding on against some last-ditch efforts from the opposition.
