In yet another exciting knockout encounter at the FIFA 2022 World Cup, five-times world champions Brazil clinched a dominating 4-1 victory over South Korea at the Education City Stadium. With this win, Brazil have advanced into the Quarterfinals of the FIFA 2022 World Cup.

The former world champions Brazil convincingly triumphed over the South Korean squad with Neymar making a much anticipated return after being rested in the previous match due to an ankle injury, scoring through a penalty 13 minutes into the match. Brazil scored all four of its goals within the opening 36 minutes, totally dominating the game.

The game’s first goal was scored in the seventh minute when Raphinha sent in a cross that Neymar was supposed to receive but failed to do so. The cross was given to Vinicius, who whacked it into the goal netting. As if this early setback wasn’t enough, Richarlison was brought down by a Korean defender inside the box in the 13th minute, leading to Brazil being given a penalty. To the pleasure of his squad and the spectators, Neymar went in to take the shot and made it.

Richarlison scores the third goal for Brazil in the 29th minute, smashing the ball following some outstanding passing play by the team. Brazil has a 3-0 lead over the Koreans after only 30 minutes of play. At the 36-minute mark, Lucas Paqueta skillfully slid the fourth goal of the game into the net after first-half starter Vinicius Jr. sent an outstanding cross into the Korean penalty area. Brazil takes a massive 4-0 lead in the first half alone, completely dismantling South Korea’s defense.

Raphinha obtains an early goal-scoring opportunity to start the second half with Brazil coming back into the assault, but the Korean defender blocks his shot, and the goalkeeper saves it.  As the clock reaches 70 minutes, the players are messing around carelessly with little to worry about because Brazil is practically likely to win the game.

Paik Seung-shot Ho’s shot at the Brazilian goal took a deflection and went into the nets at 76 minutes, when South Korea eventually managed to score its first goal. Even though the squad is now four goals behind, we can’t call this a comeback, but it’s better than going home empty-handed after what appeared to be their final World Cup game.

South Korea has undoubtedly performed admirably throughout this competition to get to the round of 16. However, they were completely outmatched in this game against the greatest football squad in history. The only thing the Koreans can be proud of, aside from Paik’s lone goal in the 76th minute, is that they performed well to limit the damage done in the second half. However, the net result of everything is that their stirring World Cup run of 2022 has now come to an end.

Goals in the first half by Vinicius Junior, Neymar, Richarlison and Lucas Paqueta have given Brazil a thumping 4-1 win over South Korea. An utterly dominant display of relentless attack and strong defensive ability has pushed the Brazilians one step closer towards their sixth world title as they will now be up against the 2018 runners-up Croatia in their upcoming quarterfinal matchup.
